The Investment Truth I Must Confess to You

I have a confession to make. A recent YouTube comment got me thinking:

Someone was saying that it’s hard to invest in crypto as they all went down.

And it’s a bit my fault. I've been a bit vague about the reality of investing.
Investments are often depicted like this:

A steady 8% per year, consistent, no surprises.

But the truth looks more like this:

That’s my representation of Bitcoin.
It's climbed quite a bit.

Just for reference, Bitcoin averages about a +75% gain per year.

Now, let's add another dimension that changes everything:

I don't know about you, but my mind stays stuck on the highest point, here at 60K, and thinks it lost 50%.

But if we look at the whole picture, from start to finish, it's a massive increase.

So why does our brain trick us?
Probably because of its age-old survival instinct.

The good news? There's a strategy to take advantage of these fluctuations: trend following.
And this strategy becomes even more effective when there's uncertainty.
